Midway Volunteer Fire Dept.'s 6th Annual BBQ Cook-Off & Fall Fest (Oct. 28-29)

The Midway Volunteer Fire Department will host its 6th annual IBCA championship BBQ Cook-Off and Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, on the grounds of the Midway Community Center. The cook-off will feature cooks from the Walker County region and around the state. We did some digging around on the IBCA website and found out that this event is the Texas state championship, and there is $5,000 in guaranteed prize money. If there are 50 teams, that amount jumps up to $10,000. We aren't sure how many teams there are, but you can contact Sherry or Linda at the numbers at the end of this article for more information.
The event starts at 7 pm Friday and resumes early Saturday morning with the gates opening at 9am. There will be vendors selling jewelry, arts and crafts, purses, koozies, woodwork, etc.

Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for ages 5 and under. Admission includes a bbq plate lunch with brisket and all the trimmings, entrance to the cook-off and vendors' booths, costume contest, live and silent auctions, and awards presentation.

For more information on this event, you can call Sherry at (936)348-7378 or Linda at (936) 349-1991.
