El Roy Icehouse: Upcoming Events

We know we already mentioned how cool El Roy Icehouse is, but the proprietor is always adding events and specials and such, so here you go:

Tuesdays are now "Girls' Night Out." That means happy hour prices all day/night for the ladies. If you are a male that wants happy hour prices, you may cross-dress, but you must be very convincing.

Starting Friday, Sept. 30, there will be karaoke at 9pm on Fridays.

Upcoming super awesome special events:

Saturday, Oct. 15: Cook-Off! There will be several categories, and there will also be live music at 5pm. See the flier below for more info:

Saturday, Oct. 29: Halloween party! The theme is Rocky Horror Picture Show. Matt promises it will be "a  Rocky Horror Redneck hell of a good time." Dress up as your favorite character - or as whichever character you most closely resemble. I hope to see a lot of Riff Raffs out there! This party is also a benefit for Shaman Ranch. Charity, Halloween, and RHPS? At a bar? Yes, plz.

El Roy Icehouse (Trinity, TX)

I recently discovered a rad little ice house close enough to Huntsville to drive to without whining about who's paying for the gas but far out enough for you to think you've traveled far, far away. El Roy Icehouse is located at the old Bell's Camp Marina. For those of you familiar with the old Bell's Camp... well... forget what you know or have heard. There's a new sheriff in town.

El Roy Icehouse, in a roundabout way named after the dude that, way back when, started it all, has a new proprietor: Matt. I traveled to El Roy a couple days ago to find that Matt was not the sort of person you would think you'd find in the middle of nowhere in rural Texas. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and one rad dude. I enjoyed talking with him about all sorts of things I do and things I probably don't remember talking about. He has also done a lot of work to the building itself, including adding some eclectic decor, and he is doing a damn fine job.

There is surprisingly a lot of space inside the bar. It has two main rooms, some very clean restrooms, and an outside deck. There is plenty to do around here as well: games, pool tables, a jukebox, and a friendly kitty that hangs around. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try a spicy pickled egg. I was also impressed by the wheelbarrow full of peanuts.
