Upon arrival, we walked up and down the streets checking out local businesses, lots and lots of food and beverage vendors, and massive amounts of discarded crawdaddy shells. It took a while to figure out that this wasn't part of the actual festival, which was hidden in the back, through a field, and across a small bridge into an area enclosed with a chain-link fence. The festival entrance sign was a little misleading.
The actual festival had plenty of carnival rides and games, more food and drink vendors, and three stages with different types of music. There is karaoke on certain days. Be sure to check the music schedule on the official website if you are interested in seeing someone specific:

When we arrived at the country music stage, Phil Pritchet was performing. He sang a song about people getting punched in the mouth. I think it did a good job of getting the crowd pumped up, because a few minutes later, this happened:
I don't know who would do such a thing to that poor man. ;)
I didn't care about the crawfish, the other performers, or the $5.00 lemonade. I was there to see Ray Wylie Hubbard! He did my favorite song second ("Snake Farm"), but I did stick around for the rest of the show. I'm a pasty person, so I ended up with a sunburn, but it was worth it. The show was awesome, except this annoying drunk lady that kept heckling Ray Wylie. Most of the audience agreed that she should have been the one who was punched in the mouth.
Overall, the Crawfish Festival was a good time. If you go next weekend, be sure to wear sunscreen and bring a lot of money. You may want to put your kid in a bubble for $7.00 for 5 minutes.
